The moon—large, broad, pure and innocent—reflected Tatiana's soul. It settled on her dapple coat like a second skin, her body like milk sifting through the tall grasses. The strands, long and jade, clung to her delicate frame like a constricting snake. Her petite bod was barely noticeable as she crossed The Green Sea, her head bobbing above the high foliage like a seagull at rest in the sea. The stalks caressed her lips like tiny fingers, tracing down her neck and along her fine shoulders; chill bumps flooding her skin like gooseflesh. The ground was soft and damp beneath her pale hooves, moist dirt cupping them and creating a plop with every step she took.
Night time was her favorite time, the cool, dark cloak it cast upon her made her feel safe and secure. The young mare was often timid and afraid, throes insecurity thrown upon her by her sister, Dasha. Her older, more experienced sibling was everything she aspired to be—tall, dark, full, supple, sassy, and a great flirt. Tatiana, on the other hand, that was a different story. She wouldn't know how to talk to a stallion if her life depended on it. Hell, she had never even had feelings for a stallion. When she glanced at an equine of the opposite sex, all she saw was... well, another equine. Nothing special. She didn't evaluate their looks, how they looked at her, their potential as a mate or what their offspring might possibly look like. Instead, she would think of trivial, "childish" (as Dasha called it) things. When a member of the male species filled her eyes, thoughts like "I wonder if he wants to hear a joke?" or "Do you think he likes to chase butterflies?" or "I wonder if he'll play the spin game with me." The "spin game" was a game where Tatiana and one other horse would run around in a circle as fast as they could, and then try and walk in a straight line one behind the other. It was her favorite game.
Pausing her playful trot in an area where the glass was not so high, Tatiana took a breather, her bird-like chest huffing under the numerous beads of sweat that had accumulated on her glossy gray pelt. Entranced, her cerulean orbs followed the dark, steep slope to the brewing surface of Mt. Magnis, the ashes billowing in the air, silver glimmers against the starry sky. Tales of the Mystical Winds scurried through her juvenile, inquisitive mind, a thousands possibilities flooding her cranium. "I wonder if they would speak to me," she breathed, her eyes fogging with awe. Flicking her creamy tail, she began to move again, her youthful body unable to stay still for long. She wanted to climb the treacherous slope of the volcano, but she wasn't so confidant in her physical ability. Wasn't that the point, though? She tried to recollect the stories she had been told as a foal—didn't the Mystical Winds only talk to the most brave, the most gallant?
She was neither brave, nor gallant. She wasn't tall, dark colored, flirty, supple, curvy. Her mane didn't have an attractive wave, her eyes weren't the color of caramel. Her hips weren't wide and perfect for childbirth, her legs weren't long and pronounced. Her hooves were a pale tan, not midnight black. Her voice wasn't low and seductive, crooning every guy in a five mile radius—oh no, it was high and light and far too cheery. The sinking feeling started in her stomach again, rocking her to the very core. She stopped her airy movement, her body now rigid and stoic. In an area where the grass was low and the moon was bright, Tatiana froze, and stared sadly into the stares that she admired so much.
"I just want to be beautiful... To be admired. I want to be the only girl in the world..."

The moon shone down on him and still he was very well hidden thanks to his almost completely midnight coloured pelt. Alex wasn't proud of this never been the one to like hiding, and for him it came naturally. As a child when it was time to play some games, it mostly had been at night as well. It always had to be hide and seek, obsessed with seeing if they could find Alexander. His scent should have been a dead give away but no they had to act stupid. Well he didn't have time for those fools, which is why he had ran away from his home soon as he was old enough. That stupid place would not see him again, especially what they had put him through. Humilation first all, because he didn't ask to be the only pitch black colt in his family. He was the oddball, the weird one, who would never fit in anywhere.
Where was he now? Here stuck in this place, dealing with a mare he didn't know if he even liked her. Dasha was her name, she was pretty and everything but she didn't seem to be his type. No one was his type, they never fit his needs and his were high. So of course he had broken many hearts in his life, of course that didn't mean he didn't have any feelings about it. It also caused him to get the reputation as a player, and that was something he was trying to be the complete opposite of. Somehow he had gotten that stupid reputation and couldn't get rid of it. It was almost heartbreaking to think some would look at him as so careless.
There was no one in sight, if their was he sure couldn't see anyone. Dasha maybe? The scent seemed to be linked towards her but yet it wasn't her. That was strange and it kind of freaked him out. Dasha he was sure he was going to dump soon, she didn't seem like someone he could actually love. Alex wanted love, not some relationship that wasn't going anywhere. Yes he believed in all that stuff, and he was bound to find it wasn't he? Just not with Dasha who he found to be the typical mare. He wanted someone unique someone her own self. Of course she would have her faults but why would he care, when all that mattered was her. He would find the one sooner or later, yet he wasn't getting any younger. Even though he was only five, had a reasonable mount of time to find his true love. He just wished he could find her fast before he actually got old, as that wouldn't be fun waiting that long.
Alex had good looks, which was why most mares were swarmed around him. A black stallion with brindle markings wherever he had gotten that from. White spots covered his neck, which in turn he got mares that wouldn't ever leave him alone. Violet eyes seemed to freak out some but it did some good. Looking around cautiously, he spotted the mare almost relieved to have some company. Walking up to her cautiously not knowing how she would react to him. " Hello Miss, I'm Alexander," His voice nice and polite.

The scent of another equine caught her nostrils, turning her head westward. A stallion, coming my way? This scent smelt different, foreign. Yeah, he was from Finibus, but not anywhere nearby to where she was currently located. Her and Dasha roamed the Lowlands most frequently, and she had never, ever smelt anything similar to this stag's scent. She couldn't quite place why it was different, but it most certainly was, and she felt this mysterious tingling feeling creeping up her back and into her neck. Readjusting her light body, a dark figure entered her field of vision, and from what she could tell, he was quite the intimidating beast. He was tall, muscular, and 100% masculine. Shivering, she took a small step back, squaring her shoulders.
When he spoke, his voice like silk, Tatiana found herself frozen. Nothing would move. Her lips, like a rose, quivered, her heart pounding in her tiny chest. This so-called Alexander towered over her like a massive Oak, and he had the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. It wasn't just their exquisite violet color that had her tantalized, but they was she could look at them and feel like she was being pulled off her feet... Having not seemed to realized she had actually been leaning forward, the dappled mare stumbled a step, almost bumping into her company.
Tatiana parted her lips to speak, but instead a near mute cough skipped out of her mouth. Embarrassed, she looked away. She was far too close to this sir, she assumed, and took three steps back, bobbing her head in courtesy. Talk, Tatiana! Talk! Her mind screamed, stop being such a CHILD! Just talk to him! He's only a horse... What's your problem? For once, her conscience was right. He was only another horse, it wasn't like she hadn't talked to a stallion before. This time, though, it was different. This time... Her eyes met his jaw-dropping violet ones again, and for the second time she felt herself being pulled towards him.
"I—" she began, stuttering. Her brows furrowed in frustration as she tried to push the words out, her throat clenching with the effort. "I'm T-Tatiana." Her eyes flicked back and forth, checking her surroundings. Her and this Alexander, they were all alone. All alone in the middle of the night. Oh, and it was dark, she could barely make out his glimmering brindle pelt. What if he was trying to take advantage of her? What if—when she least expected it—he was going to leap upon her and steal her innocence, her youth? She had heard the horror stories of those kinds of stallions, their one interest in life to spread their seed, no compassion toward the mares they were hurting. She felt the muscles in her haunches tightening, ready to bolt. Yet, as this immense paranoia gripped her, she couldn't resist again meeting his gaze, and all her worries simply melted. "Nice to meet you, too."

He looked the young mare over, much shorter than he was. She seemed so young and innocent, He never dealt with anyone that looked this fragile. He felt the need to protect her from harm's way. Never had he felt this way before, it felt kind of awkward for him. She seemed so vulnerable, prone to bad things happening to her. At her age it seemed likely that someone would take advantage over her. Not he, no most definitely not. He would never hurt a mare, especially at this age when she looked this fragile. It was a sin to hurt a mare, it wasn't right. His family had been like that, ladies come first, they win at everything. Alex had hated that most of all in his childhood. He did't feel that was justice until now when he looked at this tiny mare. She deserved to feel safe, to have a chance at life. If anything it was one of his goals to make sure she stayed safe.
She was a beautiful mare, with a cream coloured pelt with dapples. Her blue eyes were what caught his attention though, admiring their beauty. He wondered if she had ever heard she was beautiful? She was very much, with her alone he could feel something magical in the works. Whatever it was he hoped it was something good, cause all this mare deserved was the best. Why was it that he scent smelled so familiar to Dasha's? This kind of freaked him out yet not finding anything that would be the answer. He watched as she stuttered over her words, most likely caused by his benevolent violet coloured eyes. Every mare seemed to get caught up in them, but he didn't seem to mind this mare was amazed by them too.
"Tatiana is a fine name for a beautiful mare like you," Surprisingly that was the truth. Why was he so dumbfounded by her? She was just another mare for crying out loud, nothing more. Somehow he wanted it to be something more, he was stirring up all these feelings for her he didn't even know existed. He never usually found cream horses beautiful but now this one he did, How did that work? It was simple it couldn't but he found himself falling in love with her helplessly. He just met her, knew pretty much nothing about her except her name. She seemed polite enough, somewhat down to earth. How in hell was he going to fix this?
He was with Dasha wasn't he? That mare was boring though and he knew very well she loved him. Alex didn't love her though and most likely never would. He really liked this mare in front of him, she was only three though. He never imagined himself liking someone younger than him, but yet it was happening right this instance. What was she doing out here alone? Didn't she knew it was dangerous, she was just lucky she had ran into him. He would do nothing to hurt a mare and wanted to keep it that way. "It's very nice to meet you too," He croaked. Smiling at her a lot of questions filling his head. Damn. He had it bad for her, a strong like for a mare he didn't even know. " So what brings you here?" He was attempting to be casual not going to burst out his feelings right at her. " You're lucky you ran into me and not someone else, their is pretty bad equines out there you know? I couldn't hurt a fly."

'Tatiana is a fine name for a beautiful mare like you,' she repeated in her head, a shiver racing down her spine. Beautiful? She sure didn't feel beautiful. In fact, she felt rather... ugly. Her tiny chest, petite frame, gray, dappled fur and cream colored mane and tail. She hated the fact that when she was really excited -- like she was in fact now -- one could see her tiny heart thundering through her chest. She met his gaze, her jaw dropping, and her eyes teared up for a second before she completely shut down, focusing on the ground beneath her. "Beautiful." She repeated, biting her lip. "I guess." Why did she feel so stupid, so insecure? She surely had never cared before. Normally, she acted just as much like a colt than she would a filly, much to the confusion of many around here. Now, though, all she felt was his eyes traveling down her frame, his judgement hot on her body. She squirmed, her feet settling unsteadily beneath her, the light colored mare's body fluttering like a loose leaf in heavy breeze.
As he rambled on about the dangers of being alone, and how a young mare like her needed to be careful, she felt her heart deflating. Of course, all he saw her as was a young filly, just like everyone else did. All he wanted for her was to be safe, and then he'd probably walk her home and tell her to go to sleep because it was late. Anger flared at her innards, her brain boiling -- how could she have been so entranced with this stallion? He was so much older than her, more experienced, and self-sufficient. Hell, and he was probably mates with someone, as well. Feeling dizzy, Tatiana staggered, nearly toppling onto the thick, airy grass. Looking around frantically, she felt embarrassed, confused. She couldn't believe she had let herself get caught into this. "Thanks, dad, but I think I'm aware of the dangers of night."
"I need to go home now." Angry, hurt, and upset, the tiny mare quickly turned around from the handsome brindle, hate burning in her heart. Sweat began to bead around her neck and forehead, and without thinking, she began galloping forward, surging on adrenaline and pain. The illusion of 'love at first sight' was too much to bare, too much to take. All she wanted was to be alone, or be with Dasha. Not with that dreaded stag that she wanted so damn much! Yes, maybe she was acting like a child running away from her fears, what had hurt her, but what she also knew is that heartbreak wasn't an easy fall for anyone, not even an adult.
