It was supposed to be a grand feat to make it to the top, indicating strength and determination. Cariad was set upon reaching the top... just not at this moment in time. Although it was something that would be fantastic to accomplish, he just couldn't bring himself to start the first steps up the mount.
One day I'll make it up there, but why rush it? the brute mused aloud, proceeding to trot across the valley that was the base. He cast a glance around to see if anyone else had a similar thought as himself. Perhaps they could go up together, make the trek a bit more bearable. Then again, he wasn't sure it would be very wise to make a dangerous trek with a stranger. He also didn't have any one he could call a friend to go with him. Such a dilemma he said, the thought laced with a bit of sarcasm. It wasn't such an issue that there was no one to be with but he deep down he did miss some companionship. Nullam Mountain was almost just as much of a prize as his beautiful queen, Lakota -- whom he still hadn't managed to truly "get hitched" with, as of yet. The massive peak was snow-capped year round and was quite picturesque and a statement to the rest of the horses of Finibus; this is the King's territory! Maybe he was being just a little too confidant about his kingdom, but Xavier was proud of the land that was passed down to him through royal blood, and would fight to the absolute death for it. He shuddered, but how could I leave my dearest queen alone on this Earth without me? To fend away those scoundrels? Love but such a burden on his heart, hence the reason he usually tried to shove it away at every opportunity.
Faint muttering reached his ears like the long tendrils of a squid, coiling and wrapping around his eardrums, sending vibrations to his brain and registering with words. All of a sudden, the king spotted a piebald -- significantly shorter than himself, although large and husky and seemingly of the cold blood denomination as well -- trotting his way. Squaring his shoulders and arching his neck to display his dominance, the black draft perked his ears forward, his eyes squinting and keening in focus. This wandering stag seemed far from dangerous, and by the looks of things was simply observing Xavier's prize of a mountain. Submitting to his kingly duties and buckling to a level of wary friendliness, he sent a loud, beckoning whinny rolling across the valley.

The brute cast a lazy look back and cocked his head as he took in the large stag who had produced the call. The stallion looked dignified from what he could tell. He thought of where he was, the mountain, and where the mountain was located. Oh. Cariad cocked his head to the other side as it was all coming together. With all of his wandering, he hadn't really bother to keep track of where he was going. He realized it now, he had found his way into the land of the royals. No wonder there is such a majestic peak. he mused. Slowly, he turned around and headed back towards the way he had come and in the direction of the stag.
He gave a slight bow to the other male and looked him over. He did seem to be the regal type, most likely a royal of some caliber. He just wasn't quite sure which one. He'd play it on the safe side, M'lord. How are you on this fine day? It's quite beautiful around here this time of year. He wondered if he had trespassed and perhaps it was a punishable offense. He shrugged without voicing his thought aloud, he could care less if trespassing was an issue here. He glanced around to see if anyone had accompanied him, perhaps the royal herd, but he saw no one.[/style][style=letter-spacing: 2px; background-color: #27231c; padding: 3 17 3 3; margin-top: 10px; font-size: 7px; color: #94928e; text-align: right;]what a dizzy dance this sweetness will not be concerned with me.[/style]

A slow smile crossed Xavier's lips as his company bowed, and politely, the king returned the favor. It was good to find people that still showed him respect, despite the atrocious act his father had committed. His ears perked forward as the other stallion talked, his voice crisp and respectful. 'M'lord'? Hahaha, what a safe assumption. The dark colored draft though, shaking his head with a chuckle. I'm guessing he doesn't know my position? As 'your majesty' would have been the proper title, props to this handsome gent for his education in nobility. Nodding in agreement, his green eyes fell on the piebald, his lips parting to speak, "Ah, yes. Spring happens to be my favorite time of year, if I do say so myself." He paused, looking toward Nullam Mountain with an admiring gaze, "this beauty is my prize, I must say. So many legends circulate about that summit."
Relaxing out of his defensive stance, Xavier motioned toward the rest of the kingdom. "If you'd like, we can take a stroll across the rest of my land? It's a beautiful place and I'd be honored to give you a tour." He began to walk a few steps before stopping, slowly looking back with a slow grin, "by the way, I'm King Xavier -- what happens to be your name?"
